There are a few things I love more than wandering through San Francisco’s neighborhoods and discovering places that make me fall in love with the city all over again. One shop I find myself returning to time and time again is Emily Joubert Home & Garden — a boutique that effortlessly captures California charm with timeless, thoughtful design.
It’s one of those places that always feels inspiring, no matter how many times I visit.
Where Beautiful Things Somehow End Up in Your Hands
I usually walk in telling myself, “Let me just take a quick look.”
(You can probably guess how that goes.)
(You can probably guess how that goes.)
A few minutes later, I’m holding a ceramic vase, debating between two equally perfect candles, and mentally rearranging a corner of my home — or thinking about who this would be perfect for as a gift.
This has become my go-to stop for client gifts. Whether it’s a thank-you, a milestone, or something thoughtful to mark a moment, Emily Joubert is where I start. Everything feels intentional, elevated, and beautifully wrapped — which, admittedly, makes life easier too.
Meet Roland
Every visit feels extra special thanks to Roland, who was recently promoted to store manager. Watching people you genuinely enjoy succeed is always a good feeling.
He embodies everything that makes Emily Joubert such a joy: warm, welcoming, incredibly knowledgeable, and always happy to help you find just the right thing. Shopping here feels less like browsing and more like catching up with a friend — one with impeccable taste.
If you stop by, say hello. Chances are, he’ll remember exactly what you were drawn to last time.
Why I Keep Coming Back
Emily Joubert isn’t just a beautiful store — it has a feeling. It’s elevated without being intimidating, refined without being stiff. It’s where I go when I want gifts that feel personal… and, occasionally, when I convince myself that bringing something home counts as self-care.
(It absolutely does.)
Worth the Detour
While I’m loyal to the San Francisco location, Emily Joubert also has stunning shops in Woodside, Larkspur, and Montecito — each one worth a visit if you’re nearby. The Woodside location, in particular, feels like a peaceful mix of garden escape and design inspiration, especially if you love plants.
A Perfect Presidio Heights Stroll
If you’re planning a little neighborhood wander of your own, this is one of my favorite ways to do it:
🍗 Start with bone broth from Proposition Chicken — warm, comforting, and the perfect fuel before any serious shopping.
☕ Swing by b. Patisserie for a pastry that may derail the rest of your plans, but will absolutely be worth it.
🌿 End at Emily Joubert Home & Garden — say hi to Roland, take your time, and expect to fall in love with a few things you didn’t know you needed.

What started as part of Tour with Friends has become something more personal — a way to document the places I genuinely love and return to around San Francisco. This city is full of special corners, and Emily Joubert is one of those places that always reminds me why I call SF home.
